The best value of self motivation is that it’s the best form of motivation there is. When we work because we want to and not because we have to, that’s when magic happens. Self motivation is why many successful people become successful.

No one cares about your future more than you. To be successful, you have to desire success more than anyone else because everything starts with you in the first place. Many people don’t become successful because they don’t have the desire to become successful in the first place.

I personally have a dying need to be successful. I want to be rich and I want to rise up against the world. It mostly stemmed from fear of ending up a nobody by the time I was 30. How embarrassing would it be to be 30 and have nothing to show for it?

It’s how I built a net worth of $500k at the age of 28. It’s why I know I’m going to be a millionaire by my 30s. The value of self motivation is invaluable because of how intrinsic it is. No one’s going to come and save you. Not the government, not your spouse, and not your parents.

We all have to save ourselves. Self motivation allows us to recognize how we’re doing compared to our past selves and make adjustments accordingly. We want to figure out how to achieve our goals and we take actions accordingly throughout our journey.

No matter how difficult or challenging the journey may be.

Value of Self Motivation: 9 Ways it Helps

Below are the 9 ways of the value of self motivation. There’s something amazing about reaching your goals by yourself, to know just how far you can take your life. It makes it feel all that much better.

1) It’s Permanent

It’s one thing to be motivated when our parents, teachers, or our bosses tell us to do something. It’s another of the value of self motivation when we want to achieve goals ourselves. Self motivation is a permanent feature of ourselves and we take it with us till our grave.

When we intrinsically want to save and invest money to build our wealth, we enjoy the journey. Which is a necessity because the journey is a long and grueling process. When we intrinsically want to start side hustles while our friends are relaxing on the weekends, it’s a great thing.

Side hustles are not easy projects to pursue. It takes years of hard work to be successful at and even the ones who put in effort don’t become successful by the end. My work life doesn’t end at Friday at 5pm. I fire up my laptop on the weekends and work on this blog, Twitter, and the like.

I enjoy working and that comes from self motivation. To me, the answer to is working overtime worth it? is a resounding yes.

2) Value of Self Motivation: No One is Coming to Save You

Not our parents, not the government, and certainly not pensions. We have to take care of ourselves by ourselves. Everyone is too busy taking care of their own lives that it’s nearly impossible to depend on others to come and save ourselves. It just doesn’t happen.

The value of self motivation is that we take care of our own needs ourselves. Independence is one of the best attributes of ourselves. It feels awful to be dependent on someone else for our basic necessities like food, rent, and water. I’ve been there before and it doesn’t feel good.

There’s many who’s OK living without achieving anything of value. Which is OK. However, it becomes a problem when they expect others to take care of their own problems. We should never expect or demand someone else to pick up the bill for our spending.

It’s just not a good way to live life. Self motivation does more good for us than any other personal characteristic.

3) It’s a Competitive World

Value of self motivation is to compete well.
Everyone wants to be #1.

The world becomes more competitive by the day. There’s millions of people around the world who sees what you have and is willing to work hand and foot for it. The value of self motivation is that it allows you to compete in this hyper competitive world with people who are already motivated themselves.

We take our lives for granted. We don’t know just how great we already have it, living in the developed world. There’s people who don’t even get running water to live with. Even if we have above average intelligence, intelligence is not the only way for others to compete against us.

With the rise of globalization, there’s immigrants who see what the American citizens enjoy and want a piece of the pie. The only reason I increased my income to $200k+ just in my 20s alone was because I wanted to make something of my life.

I wanted to move up in the world and compete against others. It was an invaluable necessity.

4) Self Motivation Teaches the Value of Hard Work

No one ever got to the top without working hard. Hard work and a good work ethic is a necessity to rise up in the world. That’s how to achieve success in life. The value of self motivation is that we realize just how difficult it is to make a name for ourselves. The road to where I am was a difficult one.

I put in many long hours, more hours than anyone else ever put in. However, I’m OK with that because it got me the results that I was looking for. I’m proud that I got to a $500k net worth just in my 20s, alone. I can’t imagine just how much further I’ll go.

Although my body is wearing out and I no longer wish to put in as much work as I did in my younger years when I had enough energy, I’m glad I learned the value of hard work in the beginning. Suffering builds a lot of character.

Suffering and sacrifice to get results is better than meeting people who are always complaining.

5) Earning Our Results Feels Better Than Handouts

Value of self motivation is to avoid handouts
No handouts for us.

There’s nothing wrong with taking sick days and taking breaks. However, handouts are one of the worst things in the world. When the government handed out record amounts of free money in 2020 – 2021, we ultimately paid for it in the end in the form of higher inflation.

A lot higher inflation. It was one of the first times when I actually felt pain paying for goods and services.

The value of self motivation is that we earn our results. No one else gave the results to us, we earned it ourselves. That feels more amazing than anything else. We don’t like it when our results are diminished. When we find out someone else let us win in the game.

The value of self motivation is that we earn our place in the world. Just like everyone else. The world is a complicated and challenging place. It’s even difficult to just exist in the first place. When we provide for ourselves and our family at the same time, we feel a sense of pride.

There’s no other better feeling like it. We shouldn’t depend on inheritances to live our life. That’s how to get what you deserve in life.

6) We Achieve Our Dreams on Our Terms

Value of self motivation is to work on our dreams.
Our dreams are worth pursuing.

We love making choices ourselves. We dislike it when others make choices for us. The value of self motivation is that we choose when we become successful. There’s time to relax and rest. However, there’s time when we want to achieve our dreams on our own time and terms.

We like dictating terms instead of having terms dictated to us. I realized that I wanted to become a millionaire, at the latest, by my 30s. Therefore, I put in a ton of work to position myself for success. Even if I don’t get there by my 30s, I am very close to getting there.

I didn’t want to achieve my dreams in my 40s or 50s, that’d be too late. The sacrifice, late nights, and hours that I put in were all worth it. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m glad that I chose to earn my success and results from an early age.

When we control our own destiny, we feel the most happiness.

7) Value of Self Motivation: That’s How Innovation Happens

Apple constantly produces new products that give additional value to its customers than the year before. They do so through innovation. They’re constantly trying to figure out what customers want and giving it to them. Because to them, every day is day one.

They haven’t lost their startup roots when they didn’t have unlimited resources. When they were fighting just to stay alive. Even though they have unlimited resources now, they’re still consistently innovating to provide value to their customers.

The value of self motivation is that our motivation gives us the most amount of innovation in our lives. When I was poor, I needed to figure out how to save the most amount of money. Then I got creative and used cash back websites, gift cards, credit cards, and anything of the kind.

We are always going to be the underdog. The best way to get out of the underdog place is through innovation.

8) Self Motivation is a Growth Mindset

The best way to achieve happiness is through progress. When we progress through the world and go onwards and upwards is when we grow the most. The value of self motivation is that we grow through our mindset. Our mindset dictates our choices which in turn dictates reality.

There’s an infinite number of opportunities to grow. Opportunities are unlimited and we can take advantage of them any time we want. The worst spot we can find ourselves in is when we feel like we can’t grow anymore. I’ve been there before. It was 2022 when I lost $150k+ because of the bear market.

That stung and hurt me more than anything else before. I didn’t feel like I had any other choice but to lose money. Anything I tried to do failed miserably. When we don’t feel like we can grow, that’s when we are defeated. We are only defeated because of our mindset.

Not because of any other external factors. We want to be in a position of strength.

9) It’s How Legacies are Created

No one respects the one who inherited all of their wealth. They didn’t earn their place in the world, it was just handed to them. The true legacies are created by the people themselves. We respect businesspeople who created their own legacy and left behind their projects for people to enjoy.

The value of self motivation is that’s how we create our own legacies of ourselves. Our legacy determines our name. What we stood for throughout all our lives. The past Presidents of the United States were all self motivated people who wanted to make things happen.

Their legacies will forever live on throughout the end of time. In the history books and in our memories. We tell stories of them to our children and grandchildren. The millionaire secretary and millionaire janitor left behind their stories for everyone else to get inspired from.

Our legacies matter more to us, more than we know.

Value of Self Motivation: My Story

It was a summer evening. I was in the 5th grade and my mom sat my down and told me how since I’m moving up to middle school, I need to start doing better in school. She used the word “need”. That made me freeze. I never thought about that word before.

Then I started thinking what will happen if I don’t do well in school? I started to get afraid. From then point onward, I put in as much effort as I could into my studies and gave my best effort to every project that I could think of.

That’s when I put personal finance into overdrive when I first learned about financial literacy in my college days. That’s why I saved 50%+ of my income without any end in sight. The value of self motivation is that it causes you to deviate from the average crowd.

Because I put in so much legwork and work upfront, I’m in one of the greatest spots you can ever find yourself in. Now, I’m well on my way to be a millionaire and I can’t believe that I’m close to typing that. In my 20’s/early30’s, to boot.

The value of self motivation brought me so far in life. Although it was too much work at times and I feel like my body is wearing down, I know after a couple of days of rejuvenation and relaxation, everything will come back once again.

Putting in the work upfront allowed me to be much tougher than I imagined.

Value of Self Motivation is For a Better Future

There are younger people who believe life should be about “happiness and enjoyment”. While that’s a great end goal, it’s an idealistic way to view life. Life is hard and it’s difficult. That’s where motivation is a necessity to ultimately achieve happiness and enjoyment in our later years.

When we’re young, we have endless energy. The value of self motivation is that we can harness the endless energy for our own benefit. Even though I’m in my 20s, I already feel like the heavy work I put in in my early 20s is weighing down on me.

However, I’m at a great position that I never thought that I’d ever be in. I built my future because of younger self put in the dues. I’m eternally grateful for my younger self that he learned this lesson early and upfront. The value of self motivation is invaluable.

If I lost everything and had to start all over, I could do it all over again. If I can do it once, I can do it twice. Everything that I learned throughout the journey was invaluable. Sometimes, I can’t believe that I made it this far in the first place. When there were so many reasons that I couldn’t.

That’s the value of self motivation. It’s powerful. No one can take it away from you because you take ownership of your actions. It’s how many records, statistical probabilities, and people’s opinions are broken. Our will to move up in the world.

Motivation is one of the best things that can happen for your life.
